My Second Quilt
The second quilt I made was for my daughter. I have to admit there was a LOT of sewing involved, it took me at least 3 weekends to make including quilting the layers together. I only quilted along the middles and edges of the main squares. I am so happy with the result.

Here is a picture of the squares sewn in strips and sewn in pairs, all already pressed and ready to sew.
Here is a picture of it draped over my work computer - this was during lockdown in the dining room. Sewing squished up with my work computer was really annoying, although it had a silver lining... I have since moved my sewing area into the loft. I will do a separate post on it, but I now have loads of space and excellent natural lighting from the loft windows. My work computer still has pride of place in the dining room....
Here are the quilt layers ready for pinning and quilting on my kitchen floor. I tried doing it in the living room, but I kept pinning it to the carpet...
Here is a picture showing the reverse and the pink satin ribbon I used to edge it. I may need to sew a new edge on it, as the satin is starting to get rough on the edges from snagging - it looked beautiful new - but lesson learned. I really like the flamingo fabric I bought from Hot Pink Haberdashery.Flamingo Fabric from Hot Pink Haberdashery My daughter loves the marching and dancing flamingoes.
Something that really helped, was using a cutting mat and quilting ruler to cut the made up squares with a rotary cutter all to the same size and square.

The pattern came as a supplement with a quilting magazine - sorry I don't remember which one. I did find where you can buy the original pattern or get some ideas.

Here is some of the equipment I used for my quilt - these are the same as the ones I have.
