Burdastyle Magazine Jumpsuit With a Hack 6/2022 Jumpsuit 108

I'm happy to share that I have completed my project, although it took more time than I anticipated. As you may recall, I typically reserve my sewing for weekends and holidays only. I have a particular fondness for this pattern, as I adore jumpsuits that can be dressed up for work or worn comfortably on vacation. My fabric of choice is cotton twill, which has a similar texture and sturdiness to denim but is woven using a single-colour thread. The resulting workwear aesthetic is something I appreciate.

I really liked the sleeves and the fitted waist of the pattern, but I wasn't a fan of the back zip. It would have been difficult to unzip between the shoulder blades - not ideal when using a restroom stall. So, I decided to move the zip to the front and make it a standout feature by using a gold zip to complement the yellow stitching. Additionally, I omitted the belt loops since I prefer not to wear a belt. I kept them just in case I changed my mind. At the last minute, I decided they looked better without them. Initially, I planned to use buttons on the front, but I realized it was too complicated. I'll start by sewing a pattern with a fly first and then try adding it to another pattern. The instructions were easy to follow, and the garment came together nicely. However, I found the shoulders and sleeves a bit too tight. I considered recutting the sleeves, but I wasn't confident enough to try it. After attaching the shorts to the bodice, the fit was okay, though somewhat restrictive in the shoulders. For everyday wear, it's fine. Next time, I'll search for patterns with a pleat between the shoulders or add more ease to the sleeves. To give the garment a denim-like feel, I topstitched the sleeves, pockets, and shorts' hems with yellow thread. I picked a gold zip that brought the outfit together. Overall, I'm pleased with how it turned out and I've already worn it to the office.

In the meantime, happy sewing! Find me on Facebook for a daily dash of optimism - #adashofoptimism

I have uploaded a video about this and it will premiere soon.
